Qendra Balance

IDEA TEYC

IDEA TEYC is a business idea competition and development program for young entrepreneurs, designed to foster entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and creative entrepreneurship. It is organized within the framework of the Tirana European Youth Capital 2022 program, with financial support from the National Youth Congress in cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana.

Program Information

The bilateral development cooperation program “Sustainable Economic and Regional Development, Promotion of Employment, Education and Vocational Training in Albania” (ProSEED) is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by GIZ. The project supports the Albanian Ministry of Finance and Economy (MFE), the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), and other relevant institutions such as the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA). A key component of the project is contributing to the Albanian Business and Investment Development Strategy 2014–2020 and its second pillar on SMART Growth: Enhancing Workforce Skills and implementing measures for the development of entrepreneurship training programs and related modules.

Module 1: Time to Start. This two-day training module covers entrepreneurial competencies such as the entrepreneurial personality, self-confidence, opportunity recognition, idea generation and selection, responsibility-taking, teamwork engagement, presentation skills, solution development, and product prototyping. An entrepreneur becomes more successful by developing solutions, becoming an expert in their product, and often serving as the prototype of their own customer. Participants will define their problem and finalize their solution, which leads to the product they aim to develop.

Module 2: Capture the Market. This two-day business planning training covers topics such as Lean Canvas, problem-solving, key metrics, key activities, key resources, customer relationships, marketing mix, leadership and management skills, production organization, revenue and expense reporting, digital marketing tools, and business plan preparation. Participants will have a break period to conduct further research, expand their market, and receive tailored coaching.

This two-day training on innovation and adaptability covers topics such as understanding the market and its segments, adapting to market changes, moderate risk-taking, decision-making, business structures and legal aspects, persistence, creativity rules and tools, adaptive entrepreneurship, resource efficiency, and agile leadership. Participants will have a break period to conduct further research, reflect on their business ideas, and receive tailored coaching.

Participants will continue with a two-day financial management training covering topics such as costs, investments, financial planning, financial statements (profit and loss, cash flow, balance sheet), defining the minimum viable product (MVP), and alternative financing sources. Before delivering their final presentations, participants will receive coaching throughout the entire process.

A dynamic and vibrant five-month journey featuring highly engaging weekend training sessions, entrepreneurial skill-building games, individual and group mentoring sessions, and guidance from successful entrepreneurs. The program culminates in a national final business idea event, where winners receive financial support and further mentoring from local and international accelerators.
